ipl photo rejuvenation

As we age we begin to notice our skin showing signs of time, sun damage and lifestyle choices. These facial imperfections can detract from our appearance and wellbeing. Photorejuvenation offers dramatic improvement to multiple conditions creating younger, smoother and healthier looking skin with little or no downtime. Lumenis One® is a true fourth generation Intense Pulsed Light system with patented state of the art technology which optimizes power, pulsing and light delivery to provide maximum results, comfort and safety. Lumenis invented IPL and continues to perfect it. With more clinical papers and more physicians using Lumenis IPL systems, Lumenis IPL is the Gold Standard and Lumenis One is the flagship system. Technology can be expensive. While other practices may promote similar treatments with cheaper, lower-powered technology, there is a visible difference in results. Our practice believes in providing only the very best treatment for our clients and has made the investment in the Lumenis One.

How Photorejuvenation works

Lumenis One delivers a special range of wavelengths of light in customizable pulses through a sapphire tip gently onto your skin. The light is absorbed either superficially by broken capillaries and dark pigment or deeper by larger vessels and collagen. Dilated capillaries coagulate, pigmented lesions darken and then slough off and new collagen fibers are laid down, giving the skin a renewed and more youthful appearance. A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you may be given dark glasses or goggles to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth, cold surface of the Lumenis One IPL hand piece is gently touched to your skin and pulses of light are applied. You may feel a slight stinging like the snapping of a rubber band. An anesthetic cream may be used, but is seldom required. Each treatment typically takes about 20 minutes. In general, excellent long term results can usually be achieved with a series of four to six treatments.

Eligibility for Photorejuvenation

Only your physician or aesthetic professional can determine the best treatment approach for achieving your desired results.

  • You may not be a candidate for Photorejuvenation if you have a history of excessive scarring, bleeding or bruising, sun sensitivity, keloid formation or poor healing.

  • Those with a family history of skin cancer should talk to a specialist about whether or not to proceed with a Photorejuvenation.
